Evidence Synthesis Reviews

Data Synthesis

Data synthesis involves bringing together the findings from all included studies to address the objectives of the review, synthesise information for the reader, and provide recommendations. This will include a narrative synthesis, and may also include a meta-analysis, meta-regression, or meta-synthesis. The aims of synthesis are to:

  • Address the review question
  • Address the review objectives
  • Synthesise the information for the reader
    • Interpret the information so that it is meaningful in aggregate not just a description of the individual included studies
