NSLHD Libraries offer classes, training and other resources to assist you with finding the information you need. On this page you will find information on literature searching support for all NSLHD staff, including medical, nursing, allied health and mental health practitioners.

Library Training

Learn to search effectively and efficiently for current, authoritative medical literature to answer your clinical question. This course seeks to develop and enhance your searching skills using the Medline database to find evidence-based medical information.

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Identify and access relevant resources to search from work or home
  • Understand the coverage and strengths of various resources
  • Ask an answerable question in Medline
  • Identify relevant subject headings and/or keywords
  • Understand advanced Medline database tools
  • Download, read or request articles
  • Save search strategy and access the saved search
  • And more

Library Training

Library Training

Learn to search effectively and efficiently for current, authoritative literature in the area of mental health. This course seeks to develop and enhance your searching skills using the PsycInfo database to find evidence-based mental health information.

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Identify and access PsycInfo and other relevant databases from NSLHD Libraries
  • Use subject headings and keywords to develop a search strategy
  • Use database filters and limits to refine your search results
  • Understand how to read and request articles and save your search
  • Be able to adapt your search for different databases
