CEC Person centred care
Person centred care is one of the six dimensions of healthcare quality and is the foundation of a high reliability healthcare system. It refers to the whole person, going beyond the narrow focus on their symptoms and treatment, and applies a holistic approach to care that acknowledges the wider social, psychological, societal and cultural factors that may affect the individual and their healthcare journey. This includes incorporating the patient's family and/or carer in decision making to the extent the patient chooses.
